ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Organo phosphate esters, organo thiophosphate esters, organo phosphite esters, and organo thiophosphite esters in small amounts function as antifoulants in mineral hydrocarbon mixtures employed as feedstocks in petroleum refining which are subjected to elevated temperatures of from about 150 to 1500°F. and which are prone to produce material that deposits and accumulates upon the surfaces of refinery-type of heat transfer equipment contacted therewith. Such phosphate, thiophosphate, phosphite, and thiophosphite esters may be used in combination with each other.
