Disclosed is an organosol polyester coating material for a thick-layer coating, consisting essentially of (A) 10 to 30 wt. % of a linear or branched amorphous polyester, (B) 0.5 to 15 wt. % of a blocked polyisocyanate resin and/or (C) 0.5 to 15 wt. % of a triazine resin, (D) 10 to 40 wt. % of fine powder of less than 150 µm in particle size of a crystalline copolyester having a molecular weight of from 10,000 to 50,000, (E) 0 to 20 wt. % of a pigment or inorganic filler, (F) 0 to 1 wt. % of a catalyst, (G) 0 to 5 wt. % of an additive, and (H) 25 to 45 wt. % of an organic solvent having a boiling point of more than 160°C, wherein the amorphous polyester is dissolved and the powder of the crystalline polyester is suspended. The coating material may be used for coating metal strips.
