ABSTRACT Disclosed is an original feed device for a copying machine compris- ing a holder for stacking originals, apparatus for removing the bottom original from the holder, a first transport path for transporting the original from the holder to the inlet side of an illumination station with the side which faces downward in the holder directed to the illumination station, apparatus for transporting the original from the exit side of the illumination station to a reversing device and from the reversing device again to the inlet side of the illumination station, and a second transport path for returning the original to the top of the holder. The original feed device enables copying of originals which contain, on both sides, text to be copied.
