ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Apparatus and methods for producing ornaments with conical elements from planar blanks formed with leaves are described. The apparatus includes a conical form and a winder assembly defining a two-part conical bed. Leaves of the blank are successively positioned over the conical bed. The conical form is moved to an active position in which the conical form presses a central portion of a leaf against the conical bed. The parts of the conical bed are then rotated successively in opposite direction to wrap lateral leaf portions over the conical form to produce a conical element. During wrapping, suction is applied through a passage formed in the conical form and communicating with its exterior surface to keep the leaf wrapped about the form. An adhesive is applied to secure the conical element in the conical configuration. Air under pressure is then applied to the passage to release the conical element from the form, and the form is moved to a retracted position, awaiting positioning and processing of the next leaf.
