A method and apparatus for orthodontic treatment employing a removable orthodontic aligner (20) having a polymeric shell with a plurality of cavities (24) shaped to receive teeth (10). A number of openings (26) are formed that extend through the shell of the orthodontic aligner (20) into a cavity (24). An orthodontic aligner auxiliary (30) can then be secured to the opening (26) in the shell of the orthodontic aligner (20) to exert a therapeutic force on a tooth (10).
