A mandibular and maxillary arch expansion apparatus having a first and second forward orthodontic bands (22, 24) and first and second rear orthodontic bands (38, 40). The respective forward and rear orthodontic bands are interconnected by an expansion sheath element (34, 36). The two forward bands are connected by a substantially straight, solid rod (30). The expansion sheaths (34, 36) exert lengthening forces while the solid rod (30) resists lateral or widening forces. Also provided is a maxillary apparatus connected to a mandibular apparatus by a telescoping contraction connector (112). The device is positioned to exert adjustable contracting pressure for the correction of Class II malocclusions or overbite. Also provided is an arch expansion apparatus with a centrally disposed expansion element (140) having two forward connector wires (144, 154) extending outwardly therefrom and two rearward connector wires (148, 156) extending outwardly. Each connector wire has an orthodontic band (146, 150, 154, 158) on the terminal end. The expansion element can be actuated so as to elongate the expansion element so as to exert arch expansion pressure.
La présente invention concerne un appareil expanseur d'arche mandibulaire et d'arcade supérieure, cet appareil comportant deux bagues d'orthodontie antérieures et deux bagues d'orthodontie postérieures. Les bagues d'orthodontie antérieures et postérieures sont interconnectées respectivement deux à deux par un élément à gaine d'expansion. Les deux bagues antérieures sont reliées par une tige solide sensiblement droite. Les gaines d'expansion exercent des forces d'allongement alors que la tige solide résiste aux forces latérales ou d'élargissement. L'invention concerne également un appareil maxillaire relié à un appareil mandibulaire via une liaison télescopique contractile. Le dispositif est placé de façon à exercer une pression de contraction réglable pour la correction des malocclusions ou des surocclusions de classe II. L'invention concerne enfin un appareil expanseur d'arche mandibulaire ou d'arcade supérieure comportant un élément expanseur central d'où partent vers l'extérieur deux fils de connexion antérieurs ainsi que deux fils de connexion postérieurs. L'extrémité de chaque fil de connexion porte une bague orthodontique. L'élément expanseur peut être actionné de façon à allonger l'élément expanseur pour exercer une pression d'expansion de l'arche mandibulaire ou de l'arcade supérieure.
