ABSTRACT An orthodontic bracket made of a translucent alumina ceramic containing at least 99.9% by weight of alumina and composed of crystals having an average grain size of from 1.8 to 3.0 µm, wherein the transmittance of light with a wavelength of 600 nm passing through a sample thereof having a thickness of 1 mm is at least 5%, and the flexural strength is at least 50kg/mm2.
