ORTHOESTER STABILIZERS FOR 3-ISOTHIAZOLONES ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Orthoester organic stabilizers are used to stabilize 3-isothiazolones which are normally unstable, neat or in solution. Preferred orthoesters include trimethyl orthoformate, triethyl orthoformate, triethyl orthoacetate, trimethyl orthovalerate and trimethyl orthobenzoate. These stabilized compositions of 3- isothiazolones exhibit bactericidal, fungicidal and algaecidal properties.
