The present invention generally relates to an orthopedic exerciser and its actuating mechanism which, more specifically, are used for therapy, post- surgery rehabilitation or healing of a knee, of a joint, or the muscles of a leg or any other body member. Such exercisers usually allow a combination of exercises that help in the recovery of the joint, but to minimize the chances of further injuring the body part and therefore increase the recovery process, the exerciser must submit the body part to a controlled level of force. The orthopedic exerciser of the present invention includes an actuating mechanism cooperating with a resistance assembly which provides resistance and/or assistance along different directions of movement of the actuating mechanism.
La présente invention concerne d'une façon générale un appareil de ré-éducation fonctionnelle et son mécanisme de mise en oeuvre, et plus particulièrement son utilisation pour la thérapie, la réhabilitation post-opératoire ou la guérison d'un genou, d'une articulation, ou des muscles d'une jambe ou d'une autre partie du corps. D'habitude, ce genre d'appareil permettent de combiner entre eux des exercices favorisant la récupération de l'articulation. Toutefois, si l'on veut éviter de créer d'autres lésions aux organes considérés, et donc pour permettre une meilleure récupération, il convient de bien gérer les forces auxquelles on soumet ces organes. A cette fin, l'appareil de ré-éducation fonctionnelle de la présente invention comporte un mécanisme de mise en oeuvre qui coopère avec un ensemble à résistances qui fait intervenir des résistances et/ou des assistances agissant selon différents axes de mouvement du système de mise en oeuvre.
