A flexible keel (28) is provided for use as a bone anchoring element for use with a range of orthopedic implants (10) having portions configured for anchoring into boney tissue. The flexible keel includes two wings (54,56) terminating proximally in a pair of outward flares (58-60), the wings further spaced from a bone contacting implant surface by a void. The flexibility of the keel wings increases the ease of revision or explantation procedures.

La quille flexible comporte deux ailes (54,56) se terminant du côté proximal en une paire d'évasements (58-60) dirigés vers l'extérieur, les ailes étant en outre espacées d'une surface d'implant au contact d'un os par un vide. La flexibilité des ailes de la quille facilite grandement les procédures d'examen ou d'explantation.
