AN ORTHOTIC DEVICE A B S T R A C T An orthotic device that includes a boot for immobilizing the ankle and foot against relative movement and holds them in a neutral position of maximal joint congruency while providing a sole having a platform for causing the foot to describe a heel to toe rocking movement such that the leg of the user is flexed at the knee and a pivotting motion is induced at the hip joint during walking.
