An orthotic insert adapted to be placed within a shoe having an insole. The orthotic insert has a relatively rigid, resilient base member having a heel portion and an arch portion. The upper surface of the base member is contoured to fit the plantar surface of a person's foot, so as to position the foot in a generally desired angular orientation. At least one curvilinear ridge is formed on the lower surface of the base member, and extends continuously around the rearward end of the heel portion and along the arch portion on both sides of the longitudinal axis of the orthotic insert. The ridge has a sharp lower edge which projects downwardly from the lower surface of the base member for supporting the heel seat in the heel section above the insole when the orthotic insert is placed within the shoe. The lower edge of the ridge is adapted to have material incrementally removed therefrom so that the angular orientation of the foot can be adjusted to suit an individual person. The sharp lower edge of the ridge penetrates into the upper surface of the insole to maintain the insert in position, when the person's weight is applied to the upper surface of the orthotic insert.
L'invention porte sur une orthèse adaptée pour s'insérer dans un soulier avec semelle. L'orthèse comporte une base élastique relativement rigide comprenant une partie talon et une partie arche. La surface supérieure de la base épouse la surface plantaire du pied d'une personne, ce qui permet de placer le pied dans un sens angulaire généralement souhaité. La base comprend sur sa surface inférieure au moins une nervure curviligne qui se prolonge de façon continue autour de l'extrémité arrière de la partie talon et le long de la partie arche, de chaque côté de l'axe longitudinal de l'orthèse. La nervure présente un bord inférieur aigu orienté vers le bas qui dépasse de la surface inférieure de la base. Elle permet ainsi de soutenir l'emboîtement de la partie talon, se trouvant au-dessus de la semelle, lorsque l'orthèse est placée dans le soulier. Le bord inférieur de la nervure est conçu pour enlever de la matière de façon irrégulière dans le soulier. Il est ainsi possible de régler le sens angulaire du pied pour convenir individuellement à chaque personne. Le bord inférieur aigu de la nervure pénètre dans la surface supérieure de la semelle pour maintenir l'orthèse en position lorsqu'une personne appuie de tout son poids sur la surface supérieure de l'orthèse.
