An oscillator wherein there is no deviation in the position of a cap of a package when removing and replacing the cap to adjust the characteristics of the oscillator, and which has stable characteristics. The oscillator comprises a package, a resonator stored in the package, a circuit board and a member for securing the package, the member for securing being attached to the circuit board and contacting two opposing inside faces of the package.
