The invention relates to osmotic devices comprising a single core which contains a salt of a drug and an osmotic salt, wherein the drug salt and the osmotic salt have a common ion. According to the invention, the active drug release rate is reduced and the active drug release profile is modified from a first order release profile to a zero order, pseudo zero order or sigmoidal release profile by increasing the quantity of sodium chloride in the core of the device. In one embodiment of the invention, the sodium chloride is used to modify a controlled release profile to a controlled delayed release.

Les dispositifs osmotiques de cette invention comprennent un seul noyau qui comporte un sel d'un médicament ou un sel osmotique, lesquels sels possèdent un ion en commun. Le taux de libération du médicament actif est réduit et le profil de libération du médicament actif est modifié, le profil de libération de premier ordre devient un profil de libération d'ordre nul, d'ordre pseudo nul ou sigmoïdal, sous l'effet de l'augmentation de la quantité de chlorure de sodium dans le noyau du dispositif.
