Abstract Ostomy Aprons are needed to shield the skin of ostomates from ostomy appliances. (An ostomate is a person whose colon, or a part of colon, is removed, and who secretes his body waste through a surgically created opening called stoma. There are devises used for this purpose but they are impractical. One is a device made of cloth, which is pulled over an ostomy bag much like a dress. The problem with this artifact. is that. it doesn't stay on even when the fitting is tight. Also it makes the access to an open-end bag awkward and, because of that, the shielding cloth becomes readily soiled. Another device is an inside pocket. in a brief; but the problem with this device is that the pocket is in place for some patients but out of place for the others. The ostomy apron, is easy to apply and is more efficient and less expensive than the other devices used for this purpose.
