The present invention relates to an outline enhancing device for enhancing an outline of an image formed by a video signal having rising and falling slope portions and a flat portion. The device includes an enhancing signal producing circuit for producing an enhancing signal having first, second, and third enhancing wave forms which wave lengths are the same as those of three portions of the video signal, respectively. A delay circuit is provided for delaying the video signal to be synchronized with the enhancing signal. A subtracter circuit is further provided for subtracting the enhancing signal from the synchronized video signal such that three enhancing wave forms are exactly superimposed on the rising slope, the falling slope and the flat portions, respectively, without any interference to the neighbouring slopes or portion. As a result of such subtraction, the gradients of the rising and falling slopes are made larger while the flat portion is extended. Thus, the outline in the video signal is enhanced without producing preshoots or overshoots around the outline.
L'invention est un dispositif servant à accentuer le contour d'une image formée par un signal vidéo ayant des parties à pentes ascendante, nulle et descendante. Le dispositif comporte un circuit générateur de signaux d'accentuation ayant une première, une deuxième et une troisième formes d'onde dont les longueurs d'onde sont respectivement identiques à celles des trois parties du signal vidéo. Un circuit de retardement est utilisé pour retarder le signal vidéo à synchroniser avec le signal d'accentuation. Un circuit soustracteur est également utilisé pour soustraire le signal d'accentuation du signal vidéo synchronisé de façon à ce que les trois formes d'onde d'accentuation soient exactement superposées aux parties à pentes ascendante, nulle et descendante respectivement, sans parasitage des parties voisines. Comme résultat de cette soustraction, les gradients des pentes ascendante et descendante sont accentués, alors que la partie à pente nulle est élargie. Le contour du signal vidéo est donc accentué sans qu'il y ait de suroscillations d'un côté ou de l'autre du contour.
