ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An outwardly opening hinged window assembly has a positive handle to open the window rather than a lever mechanism with rotatable handle inside the window frame. The sash assembly is formed of aluminum and vinyl sections and has a continuous hinge connecting to a frame structure. The sash assembly is formed from sections including a central vinyl insulating section with an outside aluminum extrusion section attached to one side and an inside aluminum extrusion section attached to the other side of the insulating section to form a composite sash structure. Each corner of the sash assembly has a 45° mitre joint for the central insulating section and an overlapping lap joint for the outside aluminum extrusion section and the inside aluminum extrusion section.
