The device in this invention includes a male stem (5) attached to the door (1) that fits into a female component (6) fixed on the oven muffle (2). The female component (6) includes latching components (9) that can be moved radially to fit into an intermediate groove (8) in the male stem (5) when the door is closed. The door is unlatched by operating a push piece (13), which forces an inner supporting mechanism (19) against an unlatching ring (10). This ring acts on the latching components (9) on one side of the internal bore (7) of the female component (6), removing these components from the groove (8) in the male stem (5).
