OVEN HAVING A DILUTING VENTILATION SYSTEM Abstract of the Disclosure The invention relates to a self-cleaning oven. The oven has an outer housing and a liner having a top aperture provided within the housing to provide a space between the top of the liner and the top of the housing. Front and rear vents are connected to ducts which direct air to the space between the housing and the liner. A continuous electric heating element is provided having a plurality of U-shaped bends forming six coplanar parallel segments which extend from the rear to the front of the liner with the two middle segments being shorter in length than the other segments and being recessed towards the rear of the liner. A smoke eliminator panel is provided containing parallel channels which cooperate with the heating element. The channels have apertures for allowing gases to pass through the panel. The panel is disposed to cover the aperture in the liner. A vent tube extends vertically from the aperture for discharging gases. A three-layer catalytic screen is mounted in the vent tube. A diluter tube encompasses the vent tube and has a plurality of apertures formed about the lower portion thereof for receiving air. Air is discharged from a discharge duct to dilute the smoke and gas contained therein.
