A overfill protection device includes a first tubular body having an axial through hole with a larger diameter at one end thereof and a smaller diameter at another end thereof thus forming a shoulder portion therebetween, a second tubular body including an upper portion having a cylindrical recess open at an upper end thereof and provided with internal threads engaged with a lower threaded end of the first tubular body, an intermediate portion having a smaller diameter than the upper portion and having a plurality of radial holes, a neck portion between the upper and intermediate portions, and a lower portion having a smaller diameter than the intermediate portion, a cylindrical piston fitted between the first and second tubular bodies and including an upper portion, a lower portion having a smaller diameter than the upper portion, and a neck portion between the upper portion and the lower portion, a float rod having an upper end pivotally connected with a lower end of the second tubular body, and a float fixedly connected with a lower end of the float rod.
