A bottom bracket (12) for an overheat garage door (10) having a spring tension assisted lift system. The bottom bracket (12) has protrusions (22) that interlock with mating slots (46) in the stile (15) of the garage door bottom panel (14) thus preventing the bracket (12) from detaching from the garage door (10) when the bracket is attached to the spring (18) under tension, even if the bracket fastening screws (33) are removed.
