Overhead Garage Door Open-Positioning Latch ABSTRACT An overhead door latch for securing an overhead door in a predetermined releasably-latched open position, comprises a track-mountable bracket, which in turn comprises a mounting plate and a bracket pivot part and, a latch lever arm. The latch lever arm itself comprises: a latch lever arm pivot part to attachably complement the bracket pivot part in mutual rotatingly pivotable relation therewith about an intermediate pivot; and a latch end arranged in upwardly extending, spaced apart relation from the intermediate pivot and adapted to be passed into interfering register with moving overhead door parts to thereby engage the door in the predetermined releasably-latched open position. The latch further includes a spring acting in tension directly between the track-mountable bracket and latch lever arm, for mutually resiliently biasing the arm and the bracket into relative rotation about the pivot, whereby the latch end is directly actively biased into interfering register. The track-mountable bracket is adapted to be secured along a backside surface of an overhead door track, adjacent an opening therethrough that is adapted to permit passage of the latch end therethrough, and into interfering register. The latch end has an upper presentation surface that is adapted to engage a boogie exerting a downward door-weight bias, in interfering-register supplementing relation, in which the latch end is further rotationally biased into interfering register through transfer of the downward door-weight bias by the boogie. The latch is selectively releasable through operation of a cable release connected in pivot-rotating, latch-resilient-bias-countering relation.
