ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The present invention provides an overhead transportation system comprising a plurality of supporting pillars, at least one pair of rails each rail being of U-shaped cross-section mounted on the pillars so that the ends of the limbs of the U's face each other, a train of mutually-articulated vehicles guided in the rails, with the joints between adjacent vehicles being alternately hinges with a substantially vertical axis and hinges with a substantially horizontal axis, so that the vehicles can follow horizontal or vertical curves of the rails.
