A plant cultivation structure includes boxed elements, stacked in layers, with each boxed element being arranged perpendicular to the boxed element in the layer immediately adjacent. Each boxed element includes a vertical side and a bottom wall. The vertical side encloses the box interior which has first and second box interior regions. The bottom wall closes off the bottom of the first box interior region, extends from a first section of the side and terminates in a vertical septum a distance from a second section of the side. The septum and second side section define therebetween an aperture exposing the second box interior region. The second box interior region in one of the layers defines an open vertical column with the second box interior region in the layer immediately below. The septum and second side portion in one layer interlock with the vertical side in the layer immediately below.
