Systems and methods are presented for transmitting additional data over preexisting differential COFDM signals by changing the amplitude of the legacy data symbols Additional bandwidth can be achieved for a COFDM signal while maintaining backward compatibility Additional information is overlaid on a legacy COFDM signal by applying an amplitude offset to the legacy symbols Special receiver processing can be implemented to extract this additional information, which can include performing channel equalization across frequency bins to isolate the amplitude modulated overlay signal For example, at each FFT symbol time average power across neighboring active data bins can be used to determine the localized power at the corresponding FFT bins, and a channel inversion can then, be performed on the data bins to restore, as best as possible, the original transmitted symbol amplitude
L'invention concerne des systèmes et des procédés servant à transmettre des données supplémentaires par l'intermédiaire de signaux COFDM différentiels préexistants par modification de l'amplitude des symboles de données existants. On peut obtenir une largeur de bande supplémentaire pour un signal COFDM tout en conservant une compatibilité vers l'arrière. Des informations supplémentaires viennent recouvrir un signal COFDM existant par application d'un décalage d'amplitude aux symboles existants. On peut mettre en oeuvre un traitement de récepteur spécial afin d'extraire ces informations supplémentaires, qui peut consister à effectuer une égalisation de voies sur des compartiments de fréquences, de manière à isoler le signal de recouvrement modulé en amplitude. On peut, par exemple, utiliser une puissance moyenne de temps au niveau de chaque symbole FFT afin de déterminer la puissance localisée au niveau des compartiments FFT correspondants, puis exécuter une inversion de voie sur les compartiments de données afin de restituer du mieux possible l'amplitude du symbole transmis d'origine.
