- 1 - Abstract: An overpressure valve is provided for packages with flexible walls, the valve having a valve body able to be fluid-tightly joined with such a package. The valve body has a flat valve seat having thereon a diaphragm with valve shutting parts. In the seat there are valve openings, each having a number of concentric ring-like channels round it in the seat. These concentric channels contain a sealant, more especially silicone oil. The diaphragm is elastic and is imperforate, being made of a single piece of material extending across the valve seat. It is only kept in position by a keeper in a middle part of the valve seat so that portions of the diaphragm can be moved freely to expose the valve openings. The result is a valve that is cheap and easy to manufacture, as well as being reliable after repeated operations and responding to very low pressure differentials.
