An overvoltage protection device includes a housing including a first substantially planar electrical contact surface and a sidewall. The housing defines a cavity therein and has an opening in communication with the cavity. An electrode member of the device includes a second substantially planar electrical contact surface facing the first electrical contact surface and disposed within the cavity. A portion of the electrode member extends out of the cavity and through the opening. A wafer formed of varistor material and having first and second opposed, substantially planar wafer surfaces is positioned within the cavity and between the first and second electrical contact surfaces with the first and second wafer surfaces engaging the first and second electrical contact surfaces, respectively.
Un dispositif de protection contre les surtensions comporte un boîtier se composant d'une première surface de contact électrique sensiblement plane et d'une paroi latérale. Le boîtier délimite une cavité et possède une ouverture en communication avec la cavité. Un élément électrode du dispositif comprend une seconde surface de contact électrique sensiblement plane, faisant face à la première surface de contact électrique et placée dans la cavité. Une partie de l'élément électrode s'étend hors de la cavité, par l'ouverture. Une plaquette en matériau pour varistance et possédant des première et seconde surfaces sensiblement planes opposées, est prévue dans la cavité et entre les première et seconde surfaces de contact électrique, les première et seconde surfaces de contact venant respectivement en contact avec les première et seconde surfaces de contact électrique.
