The present invention is directed to the use of compounds of formula (I), depicted above, as active principals for treating skin conditions; compositions containing these compounds; and methods of treating skin conditions using these compounds and compositions. In said formula (I), R4 is (CR5R6-CR7R8-X1)n-CR9R10R11, n is an integer from 1 to 18; R1, R2, R3, R5, R6, R7, R8, R9, R10 and R11 are independently, hydrogen or non-hydrogen substituents; and X, X1, Y and Z are independently O, NH, or S.
