ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An improvement in a process for the preparation of resorcinol which includes the steps of treating an extract of selected oxidation products of diisopropylbenzene with hydrogen peroxide to convert m-HHP to m-DHP, drying the treated extract and thereafter, decomposing the m-DHP in the presence of an effective amount, preferably within the range of about 10 to 50 ppm, of a catalyst selected from the group consisting of born trifluoride, ferric chloride and stannic chloride.
