ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Oxide-based hard particles are disclosed, in particular of corundum, which are coated with a ceramic pigment. A method for producing the coated particles is also disclosed. The coated hard particles of the invention are suitable, in particular, as colouring, wear-reducing and/or slip-retarding additives for ceramic glazes, for example, for ceramic floor tiles.
