Testing of the performance of an electrochemical meter used to measure the presence of an analyte in a biological sample, particularly glucose in whole blood, includes introducing a control solution containing a predetermined amount of the analyte and a predetermined amount of an internal reference compound. The internal reference compound is selected such that it is oxidized at a potential greater than that used to oxidize the analyte, thereby making it possible to distinguish the control solution from a biological sample.
La présente invention concerne un procédé permettant de tester les performances d'un mètre électrochimique utilisé pour mesurer la présence d'un produit à analyser dans un échantillon biologique, plus particulièrement le glucose dans le sang total,. Le procédé décrit dans cette invention consiste à introduire une solution de contrôle contenant une quantité prédéterminée d'un produit à analyser et une quantité prédéterminée d'un composé de référence interne. Le composé de référence interne est sélectionné de telle sorte qu'il est oxydé à une puissance supérieure à celle utilisée pour oxyder le produit à analyser, ce qui permet de distinguer la solution de contrôle d'un échantillon biologique.
