Presented are an oxidized-type glutathione alkyl ester represented by the formula (1), Image (I) wherein R denotes a lower alkyl group, and a salt thereof; a method of preparing said ester which is comprised of oxidizing a reduced-type glutathione monoalkyl ester represented by the formula (II), Image (II) wherein R is as defined above, with the air, hydrogen peroxide or iodine in an aqueous solution; and a pharmaceutical composition and method for suppression of hepatic disorders characterized in that it contains as an active constituent said ester or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.

On présente un ester alkylique du glutathion de type oxydé de formule (1), Image (I) où R est un groupe alkyle inférieur, et un sel de ce dernier; une méthode de préparation dudit ester qui provient de l'oxydation d'un ester monoalkylique du glutathion de type réduit représenté par la formule (II), Image (II) où R est défini ci-dessus, par de l'air, du peroxyde d'hydrogène ou de l'iode en solution aqueuse; et une composition pharmaceutique et une méthode pour lutter contre les affections hépatiques caractérisées par le fait que la composition contient comme ingrédient actif ledit ester ou un sel pharmaceutiquement acceptable de ce dernier.
