Abstract of the Disclosure The structural quality of niobium germanide as a high- transition-temperature superconducting material is substatially improved by the presence of about 5 at. % oxygen. Niobium ger- manide having this oxygen content may readily be prepared as a bulk coating bonded to a metallic substrate by chemical vapor deposition techniques. It is useful in direct current super- conducting power lines.
