The present invention provides a process for manufacturing nitric acid, which process comprises the steps of reacting ammonia with oxygen in a reactor. This reaction produces nitric oxide, which is then oxidized. The oxidized product is then reacted with water in an absorption column to produce nitric acid. Oxygen is injected into the process for use in the oxidation of the nitric oxide. The oxygen is injected downstream of the reactor wherein the reaction of ammonia with oxygen takes place to form the nitric oxide, but upstream of the absorption column in which the oxidized nitric oxide product is reacted with water to produce the nitric acid.
La présente invention fournit un procédé de fabrication de l'acide nitrique, le procédé comprenant les étapes de mise en réaction de l'ammoniaque avec l'oxygène dans un réacteur. La réaction produit l'oxyde nitrique, lequel est ensuite oxydé. Le produit oxydé est ensuite mis en réaction avec de l'eau dans une colonne d'absorption pour produire l'acide nitrique. L'oxygène est introduit dans le procédé pour utilisation dans l'oxydation de l'oxyde nitrique. L'oxygène est introduit en aval du réacteur où se produit la réaction de l'ammoniaque avec l'oxygène pour former l'oxyde nitrique, mais en amont de la colonne d'absorption dans laquelle le produit de l'oxyde nitrique oxydé est mis en réaction avec de l'eau pour produire l'acide nitrique.
