ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE In the case of an oxygen lance adjustable in height and passing through an opening in the reactor equipped with a seal, it is proposed that the seal be in the form of a metal bellows adapted to expand axially, one end of the bellows being fitted to the opening in the reactor while the other end is fitted to the casing of the lance. The lance may also be surrounded by a protective sheath extending through the opening in the reactor, the sheath comprising ducts with connections for a coolant.
