The invention relates to a process for converting oxygenated organic material, to olefins using small pore molecular sieve catalysts. More particularly, the invention relates to a method for converting oxygenated organic material to olefins with improved olefin yields and decreased yields of methane and other light saturate byproducts. The improved yield slate is achieved by treating the small pore molecular sieve catalyst with a modifier selected from the group consisting of polynuclear aliphatic heterocyclic compounds with at least three interconnected ring structures having at least one nitrogen atom as a ring substituent, each ring structure having at least five ring members, decomposed derivatives of said polynuclear aliphatic heterocyclic compound, and mixtures thereof.

Cette invention concerne un procédé permettant de convertir une matière organique oxygénée en oléfines à l'aide de catalyseurs de tamis molléculaires à pores de petite dimension. Plus particulièrement cette invention concerne un procédé permettant de convertir une matière organique oxygénée en oléfines avec des rendements d'oléfines améliorés et des rendements réduits de méthane et d'autres sous-produits à faible saturation. Pour obtenir du schiste avec un meilleur rendement on traite le catalyseur de tamis molléculairesà pores de petite dimension avec un modificateur selectionné dans le groupe constitué des composés hétérocycliques aliphatiques polynucléaires comprenant au moins trois structures de cycle interreliées comprenant au moins un atome d'azote en tant que constituant de cycle, chaque structure de cycle comprenant au moins cinq éléments de cycle, des dérivés décomposés dudit composé hétérocyclique aliphatique polynucléaire et des mélanges de ces derniers.
