Encapsulated electroluminescent phosphor particles and a method of making same. Each electroluminescent phosphor particle is encapsulated by a substantially transparent metal oxynitride coating. The coating provides the phosphor particle with reduced sensitivity to humidity accelerated decay.

L'invention concerne des particules de phosphore encapsulées, et leur procédé de fabrication. Chaque particule de phosphore électroluminescente est encapsulée dans un revêtement d'oxynitrure métallique sensiblement transparent. Ce revêtement permet de réduire la sensibilité des particules de phosphore à la dégradation accélérée par l'humidité.
