An ozone generating apparatus that includes two electrodes mutually opposed to generate a voltage discharge in response to applied high voltage. A dielectric interposed between the electrodes is provided as insulation. A gas supply mechanism is provided to supply an oxygen-containing gas between the electrodes to generate ozone by the voltage discharge. An elastic body is mounted onto a back face of one of the electrodes of the ozone generating unit to cover substantially the entire back face of the electrode.
