Title p-OXOOXAZOLIDINYLBENZENE SULFONAMIDES AS ANTIBACTERIAL AGENTS Abstract of the Disclosure Disclosed are novel p-oxooxazolidinylbenxene sulfonamides, and processes for the manufacture thereof, of the formula R1-O2S Image in which R1-O2S- is a substituted sulfonamide group and R5 is H or ?R where R is a defined alkyl or aryl group (or derivative thereof). An example is (?)-4-[5- (hydroxymethyl)-2-oxooxazolidin-3-yl]benzenesulfonamide. The sulfonamides of the invention are useful as antibacterial agents.
