Antisense oligonucleotides useful for treating a disease state characterized by p53 induction, such as proliferative cell disorders, e.g. cancer, or a hypoxic state induced by an ischemic attack, such as stroke, are described. The antisense agents are preferably of the class known as "steric blocker" type oligonucleotides, including morpholino oligonucleotides, peptide nucleic acids, 2' O-allyl or 2'-O-alkyl modified oligonucleotides, or N3' .fwdarw. P5' phosphoramidate oligonucleotides.
L'invention concerne des oligonucléotides, utiles pour traiter une pathologie induite par p53, telle que des désordres cellulaires prolifératifs, par exemple le cancer, ou un état hypoxique induit par un accident ischémique cérébral, tel qu'un ictus. Ces agents sont, de préférence, de la classe connue des oligonucléotides du type stériquement encombré, notamment des morpholino oligonucléotides, des acides nucléiques peptidiques, des oligonucléotides modifiés par 2'-O-allyle ou par 2'-O-alkyle, ou des N3' } P5' phosphoramidate oligonucléotides.
