PACKAGE ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A package is formed by placing shape-retaining elements on both ends of the objects being packaged. The shape-retaining elements are self- supporting panels and have the same outline as the shape of the objects being packaged. The shape-retaining elements may have flanges attached to the top or all of their outer edges by score lines. The objects are wrapped with a flexible sheet, which is then glued or bonded to the shape-retaining members. The flexible sheet may be of plastic, paper or laminated paper. The package can easily and with sufficient shape-retaining force contain elastic objects such asdisposable diapers, disposable tissues, and sanitary napkins without having to apply excessive compression. In the case of a paper or laminated paper flexible sheet, it offers further practical utility by avoiding heat damage to the objects during the packaging process and enabling simple incineration when the package must be disposed of as waste. A simple opening can be formed in the upper side of the package by the use of two perforation lines. The free ends of the flexible sheet overlap to form an opening and a dust-free closure for the package.
