ABSTRACT A package 10 for an active medical device 11 comprising a film member 15 having a pocket 16 which defines a recess 13 shaped to receive the active medical device; a flange 17 about the recess 13 and a wall 18 with an opening 20 for providing access to the outside of the pocket 16; and a lid 12 covering the recess 13 to maintain a sterile field therein. Also disclosed is a method for assembling the package 10 and a method of testing the active medical device 11 while maintaining It in a sterile field within the package.
