A package for a battery or other article, comprising a sheet of material bent or folded along a plurality of substantially parallel fold lines to define an upwardly extending substantially flat panel region, an upper end locating region extending forwardly from the lower extremity of the said panel region, a first limb extending obliquely downwardly and rearwardly from the forward extremity of the end locating region, a second limb extending obliquely forwardly and downwardly and defining with the first limb a V-section channel region, a lower end locating region extending rearwardly from the lower limb, and a rear panel region extending upwardly from the rear extremity of the lower end locating region and secured to the first mentioned panel region. The limbs have aligned openings shaped to fit closely about at least the forward circumference of said article, with the rear portion of said article positively located by said openings and/or by the said rear panel region and/or by material of said sheet at the juncture of said limbs. The sheet is initially set with a small angle between the limbs to facilitate insertion of the battery, then the angle between the limbs is increased so that the edges of the openings press against the front of the battery.

La présente invention se rapporte à un emballage pour piles ou autres articles. L'emballage se compose d'une feuille de matériau pliée le long de plusieurs lignes de pliage, essentiellement parallèles et définissant un panneau essentiellement plat se prolongeant vers le haut; d'une région de retenue supérieure se prolongeant vers le haut, depuis l'extrémité inférieure du panneau; d'un premier flanc se prolongeant, en diagonale, vers le bas et vers l'arrière, depuis l'extrémité avant de la région de retenue; d'un deuxième flanc se prolongeant, en diagonale, vers l'avant et vers l'arrière et définissant, de concert avec le premier flanc, un profilé en V; d'une région de retenue inférieure se prolongeant vers l'arrière, depuis le flanc inférieur, ainsi que d'un panneau arrière se prolongeant vers le haut, depuis l'extrémité arrière de la région de retenue inférieure et fixée au premier panneau susmentionné. Les flancs comportent des ouvertures alignées les unes sur les autres, dont la forme s'ajuste étroitement à la portion arrondie avant de l'article, l'emplacement de la portion arrière de l'article étant défini par les ouvertures et/ou par le panneau arrière et/ou par la feuille de matériau, aux points de jonction avec les flancs. Un angle étroit est prévu entre les flancs en vue de faciliter l'insertion de la pile dans l'emballage. L'angle compris entre les flancs est ensuite élargi de manière à ce que les rebords des ouvertures s'appuient contre le devant de la pile.
