ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A caramel sheet is provided and packaged in a particular manner to permit edge standing of the caramel sheet and later utilization of the caramel sheet for enrobing an apple. Individual caramel sheets are prepared by compressing a disc or blank of caramel between webs of material, for example parchment paper, which preferably are coated with a release agent, to obtain a sheet which typically is circular and has a thickness of about 1/32 to about 1/8 inches and a diameter of about 4 to about 7 inches. A plurality of such sheets can be packaged together for retail sale. To prepare a candy apple, the webs are stripped from a sheet, the sheet wrapped about an apple, a stick inserted into the apple, and the combination heated to smooth the caramel and complete the enrobing of the apple.
