A flexible packaging material for sterile items, made from a film, or a film composite (B) with barrier properties, comprises a support film made from polyamide, polyester, or polypropylene and a thin ceramic layer (12) arranged thereon. A functional layer containing, or made from an inorganic/organic hybrid polymer (13) is applied to the thin ceramic layer (12) on the support film (11).
