ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The disclosure describes a method of packaging articles such as books in a protective cover. The method comprises the steps of (a) affixing a strip of paper or the like about the book in a direction parallel to the spine of the book, and (b) wrapping a protective sheet of cardboard about the book in a direction transverse to the paper strip, affixing the protective sheet to the paper strip by glueing, and joining the protective sheet ends by means such as staples. The method provides useful protective mailing packages which can quickly be formed by relatively simple packaging machinery.
