Disclosed is a method of controlling congestion on at least one packet radio channel, in a telecommunications system comprising at least one packet radio channel and a plurality of transceiving stations, each of the transceiving stations capable of transmitting or receiving at least one packet call comprising a plurality of data packets on the at least one packet radio channel, the method comprising the steps of determining whether congestion exists on the at least one packet radio channel, in response to an affirmative determination, calculating excess data traffic within the at least one packet radio channel, selecting at least one packet calls on the at least one packet radio channel having a lowest assigned priority until a sum of average data traffic associated with the selected packet calls is greater than or equal to the excess data traffic, and expelling the selected packet calls from the at least one packet radio channel once the sum of average data traffic associated with the selected packet calls is greater than or equal to the excess data traffic.
La présente invention concerne un procédé et un système de contrôle de l'encombrement sur un canal radio à commutation par paquets (CRCP) (128, 130, 132). Une fonction de contrôle de l'encombrement sur CRCP (418a, 418b, 418c, 418d) détermine si le retard moyen pour les communications par paquets sur le CRCP (128, 130, 132) se situe à un niveau d'alarme pour retard. Si ce n'est pas le cas, on détermine quelles sont les communications par paquets qu'il faut rejeter du CRCP (128, 130, 132) afin de réduire le retard moyen. La détermination de l'encombrement peut être faite séparément pour chacune des liaisons montante et descendante d'un CRCP (128, 130, 132) ou bien pour les deux combinées.
