ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A packaging unit of flexible material in the form of a sack or bag has a bottom end and a top end, and a front side and a back side that lie flat on top of each other when the packaging unit is empty, and which are joined along their side edges by edge folds, the side edges being parallel in the area of the bottom end and converging towards each other in an area that extends from the area of the bottom end to the top end. A side fold that extends over the converging area of the side edges is incorporated between the front side and the back side along their side edges. An inner fold edge forms an extension of an associated side edge fold edge of the parallel area of the side edges.
