ABSTRACT In a paddle for propelling kayak or small boat, it is known to have two buoyancy compartments, one at each end of the paddle, a tubular-shaped section connected to the outward end of each buoyancy compartment, and a common shaft connected to the inward ends of the two buoyancy compartments to form a double-ended paddle. This newly invented paddle is held with two hands in the same manner as the conventional paddle. But the propulsion is produced by the horizontal resultant force of the buoyancy force and the water resistance when the paddle is pushed toward the back of the kayak.
