A page indicator has a flexible filament and at least two weight assemblies fixed to the flexible filament. The flexible filament is sized to extend at least the length of a spine of a book. The weight assemblies are heavier and have a larger diameter than the flexible filament such that in use the filament is held in place in the book by the weight assemblies. In the preferred embodiment, each weight assembly has at least a pair of stops and ornaments. The stops locate ornaments that are slidably mounted on the filament. Thus, the page indicator provides an attractive and practical means for identifying a page of interest.
